How much wood...

...would a country girl split if a country girl would split wood?

Answer: As much as she could before her back felt like it would break and her hands were covered in blisters!

Have you ever tried to split wood? Until today, I've always left that job to my hubby. I tried once before, missed the wood with the ax, and almost chopped my leg in half...so, yeah...it's a good thing that it's his job and not mine!

Well, tonight he left to go up north for a couple of days and as he was pulling out, he pointed to the pile of wood that needs to be split and stacked. He said, jokingly, "It would be great to see all of that taken care of when I get home!" And then he laughed...

If he hadn't laughed, it would have been okay. I would have spent the evening reading, or making dinner, or browsing blogs...

But...he laughed...

So, I decided that I was going to split wood. It's hard work, ladies. I mean, really, really hard work! I should make a work out video called "Split Your Way To Fit!"

I definitely worked off that Chinese buffet we ate at for lunch. And I'm only about a quarter of the way through the pile. I'm determined to keep going until it's all done. Most of the pieces are about a foot across...did I mention this is hard work? But once you get into a rhythm, it's actually pretty fun. Need to relieve some stress? Go pound on some wood for awhile!

And I didn't even lose a leg...not that I didn't come close a time or two...

Can you imagine how surprised he will be when he pulls in and all the wood is split and stacked? Maybe I'll prove that he shouldn't laugh when he thinks I can't do something...

Or maybe I'll just regret showing him that I'm strong enough...

Uh-oh...what have I done?

Foolish pride ~ gets you every time!

'Til next time

Oh funny! I can imagine it's hard work. I haven't tried to split wood yet, but have used his saw on cutting branches. Also loaded up wheel barrow after wheel barrow of wood to take to the shed for stacking. It's all worth it though when your nice and warm next to the fire. LOL!!
Peace, Kris

Since hubby has started his new job and works second shift I've been chopping wood. Over the summer we decided I could stay home if he found a better job :D and he got his dream job. So here I am staying home and not feeling guilty.

So I try to do the duties he does so he doesn't have a lot to do when we are home together during the day. And we can spend time together during the day. Including chopping wood. It is quite the workout :)
