The Simple Woman's Daybook - 10/13/08

For Today...

Outside my Window...autumn colors are exploding and the leaves are falling like rain as there is a cooling breeze blowing across the ridge today.

I am thinking...that this house needs a good fall cleaning to start the winter season out right!

From the learning rooms...all is quiet ~ the kids are watching Toy Story instead!

I am thankful for...my husbands new job. Although it is only a 9-month position, it gives us health insurance and the pay is good. We will be able to work on putting extra into savings or paying down our mortgage with the goal of becoming completely debt-free in the next 5 years! Luckily, even after a year where we have had to live on A LOT less than we are used to, the Lord has blessed us as only He can and our only debt is a small mortgage.

From the kitchen...I really need to make banana bread and spaghetti sauce before the bananas and tomatoes get too ripe!

I am wearing...corduroys and a long sleeve t-shirt, bare feet

I am reading...The Newman's Own Organics: Guide To A Good Life by Nell Newman

I am hoping...to finish organizing bookshelves before the sun goes down!

I am creating...a cross stitch project that was supposed to be a Christmas gift 2 years ago ~ and probably won't be done in time for this year, either! Also, an apron for Addy and 2 pillows for my bed.

I am hearing...Toy Story and a bee buzzing in my ear

Around the house...Jack is sleeping, hubby just left for work, and Benjamin and Addy are quietly watching a movie...relaxation time for Mom!

One of my favorite things...is seeing one of my banty chicks sit on her nest...at least that's what I think she's doing since she hasn't moved in three days!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...cleaning and organizing and a trip to the small, local library...probably a grocery shopping trip, although it's quite fun to try to be creative with what's already here!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

The couple who built our home were stained glass artists. This is one of the panels that surrounds our front door. Isn't it beautiful? There used to be a large matching panel that filled the glass on the front door, but the previous owner of the home gave it to our neighbor. I recently painted the trim this green color which really made the glass stand out. I love them!

Blessings!
Brandi

Aw, you must be online now. I'm catching up on your blogs and this one just came up. Can I play?

Outside my Window...it's actually beautiful weather today. The sun is shining bright and the sky is blue but it's drizzling rain. I love it.

I am thinking...that I miss my sister. :(

From the learning rooms...we are on "fall break" so I don't have class tonight.

I am thankful for...lower gas prices. I saw it for $3.06!

From the kitchen...I'm making chicken pot pie tonight and I've been drooling all day just thinking about it.

I am wearing...a knee-length black dress with white flowers on it and black heels.

I am reading...The Partner by John Grisham and Allapattah by Patrick Smith (one for home, one for the office)

I am hoping...to find a decent pumpkin patch this weekend.

I am creating...a halloween costume.

I am hearing...co-workers lovingly talk about their pets.

Around the house...my puppy is walking around chewing on things, I'm sure.

One of my favorite things...a good Netflix movie arriving in the mail.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...homework, exercising with Buster, dinner theatre on Sunday [The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas :)]

I LOVE YOU!!!
