Temporary hiatus

Just thought I'd dial-up real quick and let you all know I'm still alive. Hoping to be well enough by mid-week to start posting regularly again. I don't have a laptop anymore, and sitting up for long lengths of time is not easy, so being on the computer hasn't been much of an option. I was going to have a giveaway this week, but I'm having to postpone it until next Monday. It's more important right now that I spend my time resting and taking care of the things that absolutely have to get done around here.

I also haven't been able to visit any of you for several days, so I feel very out of "the loop"! Oh well, there will be plenty of time for catching up later.

Being sick has actually given me time to lay down and do a lot of reading. I'm in the middle of a book right now that is really neat called The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mother Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less by Terry Ryan. It's about a housewife (the author's mother) in the 50's and 60's with a large family and a mostly absent, alcoholic, abusive husband who had to use her creative talents to bring in enough cash to feed and clothe her family and put a roof over their head. I love this book because it shows the true strength and resiliency of a "mere" housewife in a time when divorce was not an option and women were to "suck it up" and "make the best of it".

If you're looking for a new read from the library, check it out. It's an entertaining story with a great message!

'Til next time...

I hope you get well soon! But you be sure and heal ALL the way before taking on too much too soon. You don't want a relapse!
